The parish of Fyfield, which includes Redenham,
is situated a few miles west of Andover, near the Wiltshire border.
It was once a mere handful of thatched cottages with three large
houses, the Manor, the Grange and the Rectory.
Fyfield, named after five hides (a measure of
land for one household), was for many years the home of horse
trainer Toby Balding's Grand National winners, Highland Wedding
(for which the local pub is named) and Little Polvier, the winner
in 1989. Strings of racing horses out on training runs are a
common sight in the area.
