A message from Councillor Ian Carr, Leader of
the Borough Council, and Des Benjamin, Group Chief Executive,
Simplyhealth:
"We would like to introduce you to a project that is underway
called 'Andover Vision'. This project is aimed at revitalising
Andover over the next 20 years to give us all a town in which we
can take great pride and in which life will feel good.
In developing 'Andover Vision' we have been able to take for
granted certain things about our town. For example, we know that
our town is a very friendly and 'human' place to live and work and
we want to make sure it stays that way for many years to come."
|
"We know that in Andover we share a strong bond, a pride and
sense of community that can be quite the envy of others. We know
that it is a privilege to live in this part of Hampshire, with its
natural beauty and wonderful access to so much else around us.
So, much of our vision is built around retaining those things
that are good and natural strengths of Andover.
Equally, we also know that aspects of our town are simply not up
to scratch. We have insufficient entertainment facilities, some
community health problems, a number of social and education issues
and increasing economic pressures, which could become quite serious
if we do not attend to them.
Of course, what we don't know, and what we can't know, is what
the future holds for any of us, but we can try to prepare for it.
'Andover Vision' is our first step towards planning to meet our
future head on, so that it is as exciting, prosperous and
fulfilling for us as possible.
We are aiming to build an Andover that is fit to meet the
challenges of the 21st century (and they will be many) in a way
that retains the character of our town and gives us all the
opportunity to live life to the full.
Above all else, 'Andover Vision' plans to tackle our future
together as a community. this is our greatest strength and our
greatest resource.
We hope you will enjoy reading this community document, find it
inspiring and wish to be involved in this project. Your views are
vital to us so please feed them back to us at the address on the
back of the brochure."
