Dogs - Home Boarding

In Test Valley any person boarding dogs in their own home must be licensed under the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963.

Licences are valid for one year and are issued following a successful inspection by the Animal Welfare Officer.  The inspection is to ensure that the standards and conditions required by the Act are adhered to and that the premises are suitable for boarding dogs.  Also to ensure that the applicant has suitable experience and qualifications to care for the animals they board.  The number of dogs permitted to be boarded at any one time will be listed on the Licence.

Unannounced visits are made throughout the Licence period to ensure standards are being maintained.

There is an annual fee for the Licence which must accompany the application.

For more information and an application form, please contact the Animal Welfare Officer.
