New website will make it easy to “Do it on-line”

Press Release: 14/02/2012

The Council will shortly launch a new look, user friendly website.

The site has been developed using information taken from the most visited pages on the current site, the subject of calls to our Customer Services Unit and website best practice. Visitors to the site will have shortcuts to check services such as bin collection days, pay bills, apply for permits and licences and report any issues. Joint hosting with Winchester City Council will see the new site deliver savings of over £12,000 per year, paying for itself within 4 years.

Councillor Ian Carr, Leader of the Council said: “The new website is designed to meet the needs of our residents and businesses. It will provide a quick and easy route to access council services with specific sections for residents and businesses. The site uses simple navigation to enable people to quickly find what they need, such as checking planning issues, contacting their Councillor and how to get involved in decision making.

One of the most frequent calls we get is about waste collection dates. The new site will have a facility to quickly check this on line and we plan to introduce a Smartphone app to make checking even easier. Everyone’s time is precious so we want to make it as easy as possible for people to find what they want, when they want it. I believe the new website and our customer service number will do just that and I look forward to its launch in the coming weeks.”

Once the site is live feedback from users will be welcome to ensure the site provides the right information, is easy to navigate and helps people to conduct business on-line at a time convenient to them.
