Romsey shop collects grant
Organic Bliss receives Independent Retailer Grant
Test Valley Borough Council has presented Rose and Brian Glendinning with the second instalment of an Independent Retailer Grant following a successful first nine months of trading from their Romsey shop, Organic Bliss.
Located in Dukes Mill shopping centre, Organic Bliss has become known for its environmentally-friendly products and services including washable nappies, skincare ranges and children’s books, clothes and toys.
Abbey ward member, Councillor Ian Richards, presented the cheque to Rose at her shop. He said: “Organic Bliss is a unique business which attracts local customers from Romsey as well as further afield. Rose and Brian have worked very hard to establish the shop in its new location and I wish them continued success in the future. I’d also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the couple on employing a young person as an apprentice, which shows great forward-thinking and business sense.”
Rose Glendinning added: “Our first few months of trading have been great and we’re really enjoying being in Romsey. I’d like to thank Test Valley Borough Council for the grant and for supporting us during the first steps of our launch.”
Recipients of the £1,000 grant receive £500 after three months of trading and a further £500 six months later. To be eligible for the grant, new or existing independent businesses must occupy a town centre ground floor unit which has been vacant for at least one month. Qualifying businesses include shops, restaurants and cafes.
