New business receives support from Council
A new business that offers holistic treatments, including massage, aromatherapy, essential oils and natural, handmade candles has opened at The Fairground Craft and Design Centre, Weyhill, to provide clients with a soothing and calming influence. It joins ten other arts and crafts businesses, and a family-run tea room, at the popular centre in Andover.
Scents of Spirit stocks a wide range of gifts and also offers aromatherapy sessions. The new business is owned and managed by fully qualified therapists, Emma Edwards and Amanda Macken, who have been friends for 25 years and have been seeking an opportunity to start their own business together for some time.
The entrepreneurs are the latest recipient of Test Valley Borough Council’s £750 Business Incentive Grant. Ward member for Penton Bellinger, Councillor Phil Lashbrook, presented the grant at the Fairground premises. He said: “Emma and Amanda have worked incredibly hard to ensure their business has had the best possible start. Some of their products are sourced locally and there is no doubt that the full range of products and services is very popular. I’d like to wish Emma and Amanda the best of luck in taking the business forward.”
Emma added: “Amanda and I would like to thank Test Valley Borough Council for the grant and for supporting us during our launch. We are totally dedicated to our new business and we’re really enjoying getting to know our new customers, plus we have got lots of exciting ideas for the future. The Council’s Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley. Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive a grant of £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.
