Grant for town event

Test Valley borough councillors from Andover and the surrounding villages have awarded a £2,000 grant to contribute to the cost of the Proms in the Park event this weekend.

The free event on Saturday evening will be held at Vigo Park from 5.30pm and will give local musicians the chance to showcase their talent. It will also show the BBC's 'Last Night of the Proms' on a large LED screen to create a cultural, musical vibe to celebrate one of the industry’s most prestigious events.

Andover Millway ward member, Councillor Jim Neal, presented the cheque on behalf of the multi-ward application. He said: “Proms in the Park is set to be a fantastic event which is bound to be inspiring, vibrant and full of talent. I am pleased that so many councillors from Andover and the surrounding areas are committed to supporting the event and I look forward to seeing everyone there.”

Proms in the Park will form part of the suite of public events supported by Andover Vision; a community partnership made up of organisations, residents and other stakeholders that shape ambitions for the town. For more information about Andover Vision, visit www.facebook.com/andovervision.
