A big welcome to Buddy the Bin!

Our Environmental Service has welcomed a brand new addition to its Love Where You Live campaign in the form of a large litter bin!

Buddy is the fun new mascot that will visit local community groups, organisations and schools to encourage everyone to take responsibility for keeping their area clean and free from litter.

Buddy has joined the team to celebrate Love Where You Live’s seventh anniversary. As well as thanking more than 200 Community Litter Pickers that have been involved in the project, Buddy will continue to raise awareness of events and activities that residents can get involved in. Buddy’s first appearance was at a Stockbridge Sparkle Day, where nearly five tonnes of litter was cleared, before heading over to Andover’s ASDA to join the Recycling Star to encourage people to recycle more.

Environmental Portfolio Holder, Councillor Graham Stallard, said: “Buddy is already proving to be a popular addition to the team - the Stockbridge Sparkle Day attracted a lot more attention thanks to Buddy! I’d like to thank everyone involved for their hard work on the day and for helping us to remind people of the importance of keeping our environment clean and tidy.”

Children from across the borough chose Buddy’s name by voting for their favourite name from three options.
