Council Tax Charges
Each year you receive an overview of the Council Tax you pay in a leaflet enclosed with your Council Tax bill.
The amount of Council Tax that you have to pay is determined by the 'valuation banding' that is allocated to your property.
The full charge is made up of five separate charges (called 'precepts') as follows:
Precept Band 'D' charge for 2012/13
Hampshire County Council £1037.88
Hampshire Police Authority £146.25
Test Valley Borough Council £121.41
Hampshire Fire & Rescue Authority £ 61.38
Town & Parish Councils Varies according to the Parish you live in
All of the other band charges are worked out as a percentage of the band D charge.
You can check the Council Tax Band of your property on the Valuation Office website.
A table of Council Tax rates for 2012/13 can be found using the link at the bottom of the page.
To find out how much you will pay, find the Parish that you live in down the left-hand side of the table and the band that your home is in along the top. The amount shown is the charge for the full financial year 2012/13 for all five 'precepts' added together and includes the relevant town or parish precept where applicable:
