Do I Need Building Regulations?

Building Regulation permission is required to ensure, as far as the local authority are able, that all construction work complies with the minimum standards set by the Government.

Building Regulations ensure that an acceptable standard of health and safety is provided for people in and about buildings. They also require adequate access and facilities for disabled persons as well as specifying measures to control energy and waste.
Building Regulation permission is required for most building work. For example:

Full Plans	This application requires 2 sets of detailed drawings to be submitted for approval under Building Regulations.
Building Notice	A Building Notice application does not require plans at the submission stage; therefore no written Notice of Approval is issued prior to work commencing. This type of application cannot be used for works that are to be carried out to a non-domestic property.
Regularisation	A Regularisation application is for works that have been carried out without any other Building Regulation application having been made
