Building Preservation & Conservation Advice
There are over 2000 statutory listed buildings in the borough and many more locally important buildings spread throughout Test Valley. The Council is committed to ensure the upkeep of these buildings and provides advice on repairs and maintenance to preserve the traditional style. Financial assistance for such works from the Council is not available.
The Service's in-house expertise is primarily engaged in tasks related to planning applications and formulating planning policy. The ability to provide a general advice service is therefore limited.
The Council has produced a guidance note to assist those who are responsible for looking after war memorials. The leaflet can be found below.
Hampshire County Council have produced several useful documents in relation to the historic environment. These include documents on Earth Structures , the Conservation of Water Meadow Structures, Thatch in Hampshire, Re-pointing and Historic Farm Buildings in Hampshire. Please click here to view the link to the County Council's website.
