Requests for Waiver or Suspension of Parking Restrictions
Waivers can be applied for at the Council offices reception when it is necessary to park in restricted areas whilst building works or similar are being undertaken. Generally it is not necessary to obtain a Waiver for loading provided that the loading is continuous and obvious.
Waivers are issued for a maximum of 7 days duration only and an administration fee of £16 is charged.
24 hours notice is generally required to allow for any site inspections required but if the location is known to be acceptable by office staff, waivers may be issued without notice. Please be advised that this may take a few minutes to produce.
If the location is not acceptable an alternative location may be suggested. This will be judged on Traffic Management Impact criteria.
Requests for suspension of permitted parking on the highway.
Parking bays can be suspended under certain circumstances such as access for wide loads or overhead works e.g. tree felling
To apply for a Parking Waiver please email us at email@example.com or alternatively telephone 01264 368733. When applying for a suspension a minimum of 48 hours notice is required to allow for any site inspections required and for the advertising of the suspension.
A fee of £60.00 is charged for coning off bays.
An assessment of the parking area is made to decide if a letter drop to residents or businesses advising of the suspensions is needed. The area to be covered by the letter drop will be assessed according to the permit scheme involved and liaison with Traffic Management section.
A letter drop can be carried out by TVBC for an agreed price, subject to staff resources or by the contractor, in which instance TVBC must approve the letter and the contractor must supply an undertaking that the letter drop has been carried out.
Civil Enforcement Officers on duty will place notices advertising the suspension; the length of notice required is a minimum of 48 hours depending on the location. They will place the cones in position and check the notices at the start of the suspension and retrieve when necessary.
