Information for Community Litter Pickers

This information is for council registered Community Litter Pickers or for those undertaking council-supported Community Clean Ups.

Community Litter Pickers
As a registered Community Litter Picker, your wellbeing is important and you must understand that whilst you are litter picking you are doing this at your own risk and are not covered as an employee of the Council and therefore, are not covered under its insurance.

Community Clean Ups
If you would like to arrange a Community Clean Up, we advise that you carry out a risk assessment. If you do not have your own form, you can use the Risk Assessment Form listed below. Please also read the Safety Guidance Note and the Health and Safety Checklist which highlights safety information to help you and your group whilst litter picking.

Volunteers should not participate in litter picks unless they understand and accept that participation is entirely at their own risk. Volunteers are not working for, or on behalf of Test Valley Borough Council and therefore the Council cannot be held liable for any loss, damage or injury caused as a result of the actions and omissions of volunteers.
