Cultural Events Curator

Temporary 18 month contract

Salary £48,194 - £52,980.48

Would you like to be part of a truly exciting, once in a generation opportunity to totally transform Andover town centre? We already have a masterplan in place, working with Hemingway Design, and huge plans for the future but while regeneration is, of course, about physical changes, culture is absolutely key to the perception and success of a place. And we want you to help shape that.

The new Cultural Events Curator role offers a to take the lead in creating an extensive programme of high quality events and activities over the next 18 months as we seek to maximise Andover’s potential and pave the way for the masterplan. The role will contribute to the council’s wider regeneration work to support economic recovery post-pandemic by encouraging people to return to the town centre and think differently about how they might use the town now and in the future.

We have an enviable reputation for organising creative events and activities for a variety of audiences. Working with key stakeholders, the Cultural Events Curator will be an exceptional leader and communicator who can ‘supercharge’ our efforts to curate, programme, market and manage an extensive and diverse series of events and activities to deliver the council’s vision.

This will include the ability to re-energise existing events and create new activities in and around the town, devise more creative uses for outside spaces and explore how we can sustain and encourage activity on different days, as well as from daytime into evening. You will be flexible and proactive, developing strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive successful delivery of the cultural-led regeneration. You will have extensive, proven experience and knowledge in events delivery and management at a strategic level and be passionate about the arts and cultural regeneration. You will also be able to inject significant expertise and resources to create a diverse and innovative programme of activity.

In return, we offer successful applicants a range of benefits including a local government pension scheme, free on-site parking and discounted leisure facilities. For full details of all benefits of working for us, please visit the link below.
