We are seeking to recruit a (Senior) Environmental Health Officer to work in a small team of dedicated and professional staff.
As EHO in our Environmental Protection Team, you will carry out a range of environmental protection functions including the investigation of nuisance problems and responding to planning and licensing consultations.
You will be enthusiastic, customer-focused and technically knowledgeable, with first-rate problem-solving and communication skills. You will have opportunities to lead on various projects and work areas and also to help shape the improvement of our services.

Hay Grade 4 £17,278 – £20,924 per annum

As a member of the Parking Enforcement Team, you will assist us to achieve our Traffic and Parking Management Objectives. This includes keeping traffic flowing freely and ensuring turnover of available parking spaces throughout the Borough.
Based from our Broadwater Road Car Park Office, Romsey, you’ll be responsible for patrolling car parks and highways, monitoring ticket machines for correct operation and issuing Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles parked illegally when appropriate. This will include reporting any maintenance, sign or parking problems and any discrepancy in the Traffic Regulations or traffic markings.
Requirements of the post include:
- A team player, however, significant periods of lone working when patrolling
- Excellent customer service skills and able to deal effectively with potential conflict situations
- Willing to work outside in all weather conditions
- Must have a methodical approach to your work
- Willing to work to a rota, as hours will include three in four Saturdays
- A full driving license to enable patrolling of areas outside of walking distance
- Subject to a Standard DBS check
