Exceptional Hardship Discretionary Fund
A fund has been created to help those who are facing exceptional hardship in paying their Council Tax. The Exceptional Hardship Fund (EHF) can provide more support if you are already in receipt of Council Tax Support which doesn’t cover your full liability. It can also help you if you are not entitled to any Council Tax Support but are experiencing exceptional hardship.
If you are not eligible to receive Council Tax Support because you are excluded by the Prescribed Requirement Regulations, you will not be eligible to receive support from the EHF.
The EHF can only be used to help with Council Tax liability from 1st April 2025. It cannot be awarded towards historic arrears, or any other debts or bills.
