Working Groups summary

Five working groups were set up as a result of the Andover Summit, each comprising at least one member of the local business community, and with representatives from Andover Town Council and Councillors and Officers from Test Valley Borough Council.

The five working groups were:

Parking and Signage – to review current parking arrangements for the town centre and look at options to improve the signage leading to the town from the trunk road network.

High Street Events – to look at encouraging a wider variety and number of events and activities to draw people to the town centre, including free use of the Time Ring and updating the Andover Heritage Trail.

Environmental Improvements – to investigate work to enhance the town centre environment including planting, street furniture and improvements to the Upper High Street.

Reviewing Planning Controls – to examine the current policies covering the town centre to see if it is possible for it to become a more multi-functional area enabling public services, leisure and housing to sit alongside shops.

Town Centre Management and Andover’s Unique Quality – to consider the various options for the management of the town centre and will seek to identify a common theme to foster a greater pride in the town.

The work undertaken by each group is documented on individual web pages, and these can be selected from the menu on the left hand side of this page, or by clicking on the title of the groups above.
