Alamein Ward Profile

INTRODUCTION

Ward profiles have been developed for each of the 24 ward areas in Test Valley. The profiles aim to provide consistent information about local communities across the borough. It is hoped that these profiles will allow a greater understanding of your local area and help to identify priorities for the community.

Below you will find a detailed ward profile for Alamein, as well as a profile for Andover town (Alamein, Harroway, Millway, St Mary's and Winton wards). If you would like further information about a specific area or data set, please contact the Policy Team on 01264 368000 or policyteam@testvalley.gov.uk and we will work with you to provide a more detailed profile.

'Ward' is a term used by the Council and other public sector bodies to define an area represented by one or more Borough Councillors. These Councillors have been elected by the people who live in that ward to represent their views. A parish is represented by a number of Parish Councillors, and is usually smaller than a ward.

ALAMEIN

The ward of Alamein covers 1,429 hectares on the north-eastern edge of Test Valley. Alamein is one of six wards that make up the town of Andover.
The ward is made up of a mix of different communities ranging from relatively wealthy residents living in rural villages in the northern part of the ward to less well-off, and in some cases disadvantaged, residents in the southern, urban part of the ward near to Andover town centre.
