Cost of Living Grant Scheme

The grant is solely for work involved in supporting the community through the rising Cost of Living and not for furthering the work of an organisation.

Test Valley Borough Council has created a new £100k Cost of Living Grant scheme to help organisations that are supporting people who are struggling with rising costs.

TVBC chiefs agreed to create the new funding pot at a cabinet meeting on Thursday 29 September.

Who can apply?

  • Voluntary groups / not for profit organisations / incorporated clubs and societies
  • Informal groups established to support people with the rising cost of living (we can help you find a third party to receive the payment).
  • Parish and Town Councils
  • Schools, in relation to their wider community role

What can be applied for?

  • Grant applications can be for up to £1,000*
  • Grant applications can be for up to 100% of total project cost, but the amount of funding awarded will be determined as part of the review process.
  • Funding is intended to help charitable organisations and voluntary groups to support members of the community who are experiencing difficulties due to the rising cost of living.
  • This grant should not be used for the direct payment of household bills, but are otherwise unrestricted.

*For advice about larger projects, please speak with your Community Engagement Officer at Test Valley Borough Council. For contact details see here: www.testvalley.gov.uk/CEOfficers

What information must be provided?

  • A fully completed, signed and dated application form
  • Supporting documents (if appropriate)

What conditions must be satisfied?

  • Discuss your application for funding with your local Community Engagement Officer prior to completing an application form. The contact details of your Community Engagement Officer can be found here: www.testvalley.gov.uk/CEOfficers
  • Applications towards projects, which involve partnership working with other organisations to provide support to people during the rising cost of living, are particularly welcomed.
  • You must retain all receipts relating to the spending of this grant and we may ask to see them
  • Should the project not take place, or not be completed any unspent grant will be repayable
  • Retrospective funding towards costs which have already been incurred is not eligible
