Gran-days out at Four Fun Friday events
Andover High Street will be buzzing!
Andover High Street will be buzzing again this Friday, 19 August as the third of four festival-style events will take place from 11am to 3pm.
Visitors can expect to see a mixture of stalls, street entertainment and arts and crafts activities. Comedy walkabout performers from The Notional Trust and Explorer Galorers will amuse visitors, and children and adults will also have the chance to help to create a large piece of community artwork.
The Four Fun Fridays project was organised in response to feedback from the Encounters shop project in 2014, where local people shared their ideas and aspirations for the town. The first two Fun Fridays took place earlier this month where shoppers and visitors may have seen two ‘grannies’ blasting out tunes as they raced up the High Street on shopping trolleys, taken a look through a strange camera that gave a 360 degree view or helped to colour in a mural.
Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Ian Carr, said: “The first two Fridays have been a great success and have drawn crowds of people to Andover. There has been a real festival feel to the area and lots of entertainment for adults as well as children. I have no doubts that the next two Fridays will be equally as successful.”
MP for North West Hampshire, Kit Malthouse said: “I was in the middle of my advice surgery in the Guildhall when we heard a commotion and looked out to see two grannies tearing about on shopping trolleys. They were a complete hoot, totally hilarious, and brought a lot of laughter to the town centre.”
