New Recycling Stars Supporters

Two schools pledge to help more people to recycle

Test Valley Borough Council has welcomed support from pupils at Wellow Primary School and Rookwood School who have pledged to encourage more people to pop their plastic bottles, paper, cardboard, tins and cans into their brown recycling bin. The schools are just two of a large number of organisations across the borough that have signed up to become Recycling Stars Supporters and agreed to help everyone to recycle more and waste less.

The Council will now work closely with the schools to make sure they have access to recycling-themed games, stories and crafts. Officers will also be able to host assemblies at the schools so that all the pupils can get involved in the activities.

Environmental Portfolio Holder, Councillor Graham Stallard, said: “The children took part in interactive assemblies and discovered what they could do to help everybody to recycle as much as possible. Both schools then chose a representative to sign a certificate to pledge the school’s support. I would like to take this opportunity to thank both schools for their support with the initiative. The Recycling Stars team is looking forward to working with them both throughout the school year.”
