Test Valley Borough Council has awarded a £750 Councillor Community Grant to Nursling and Rownhams May Fair Committee. The funds assisted with the costs of organising and coordinating the annual May Fair, which took place on Monday, 2 May 2016.

Chilworth, Nursling and Rownhams ward members, Councillor Anderdon, Councillor Bundy and Councillor Finlay awarded the grant to enable the May Fair to return to Nursling and Rownhams, after a one year break in 2015. The free event was well attended by the community.

Councillor Anderdon, who presented the cheque alongside Councillor Bundy, said: “I am really pleased to support the May Fair, as it is a popular event with excellent entertainment. This year, we enjoyed dance performances, a cheerleading show and some wonderful singing by our local choirs.”

The entertainment also included various competitions, including a dog show, a skate park competition, champion bakers and a miniature gardens contest.

Councillor Bundy said: “The May Fair is a great opportunity for our community to come together for a fun, family day out. It is also an ideal platform for local groups and charities to showcase what they have to offer and to fundraise for their causes.”

The Test Valley Borough Council Councillor Community Grant scheme helps to fund community-led initiatives. Local councillors allocate funds to projects that they identify as meeting a need in the community based on feedback and ideas from residents.
