A local nail salon is celebrating its first 12 months in business with the second instalment of a £1,000 Independent Retailer Grant.

Test Valley Borough Council awarded the grant to Tran Thi Hong for her new business, Fancy Nails Salon, at 7 London Street, Andover. The popular salon opened last year and offers an extensive range of nail services including polishing and extensions, as well as pedicures and manicures.

Tran said: “We have been working really hard to set up our new business and make it a success. Moving to Andover has been a great experience and we want to thank our customers and the Council for their continued support.”

St Mary’s ward member, Councillor David Denny presented the £500 cheque and said: “I am delighted to present the second instalment of the grant to Tran and her family. The Independent Retailer Grant supports those retailers who occupy previously empty units in the town, ensuring the local economy continues to thrive. I wish Fancy Nails Salon every success in the future.”

Recipients of the £1,000 grant are awarded £500 after three months of trading and a further £500 after nine months. To be eligible for the grant, new or existing independent businesses must occupy a town centre ground floor unit which has been vacant for at least one month. Qualifying businesses include shops, restaurants and cafes.
