Andover Vision has provided £650 in sponsorship to Andover Mind to enable them to run a photography competition to help promote wellbeing and highlight the positive aspects of the town.

Andover Mind is asking local residents to submit their inspiring images of Andover, which represent the “Five Ways to Wellbeing” – connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give.

The sponsorship money from Andover Vision will help cover the cost of turning the winning photographs into a calendar, enabling all funds raised from the sale of the calendars to go direct to the charity. Room to Float, S & J Maddocks Funeral Directors and The Mortgage Hut have also provided sponsorship, though some further funding is still required.

Councillor Phil North, who has been coordinating the Andover Vision project, said: “I am pleased that Andover Vision has been able to support this competition. The new Andover Vision is about developing and delivering positive projects to enhance the town. Throughout the process, I have been struck by the positive attitude of Andover residents who recognise the beauty of Andover, how we can improve the town and inspire others. The synergy between promoting inspiring images of town while enhancing people’s wellbeing really struck a chord with the Andover Vision group. I look forward to seeing the finished calendars later in the year.”

To enter, photographs should be emailed to photos@andovermind.org.uk with details of which of the five ways it represents, where it was taken and when. Entrants can also share their photos on Twitter by using @AndoverMind and the hashtag #andovermindphoto. The competition closes on Friday, 23 September 2016 and entry is free.
