Cash for Community Café
A Community Café in Andover is able to provide a better, more cohesive service, thanks to a community grant worth nearly £1,000 from Test Valley Borough Council.
Andover Alamein ward member, Councillor Tracey Preston, presented the cheque to staff from RCS, which operates the café as part of its community provision at the Longmeadow Centre on Cricketers Way, Andover.
Kath Calcraft, the Learning Development Coordinator from RCS, said: “RCS is a community organisation that works across Hampshire to provide a variety of support activities for adults, children and families. We are a not-for-profit organisation which is proactive and reactive to the needs of the communities that we serve and we work closely with local organisations to ensure that these needs are met. We are very grateful to Test Valley Borough Council for the support and grant, which will help us to continue providing engaging services in Andover to improve education and reduce isolation.”
Councillor Preston added: “The Community Café at the Longmeadow Centre is hugely popular with local residents. It is always busy and the staff are constantly looking for new ways that they can engage with people and offer new services. I’m delighted to present this cheque to them.”
