Keeping fit in the great outdoors

Andover residents are being asked for their thoughts on plans to install new outdoor fitness equipment in the town.

Following feedback from the Andover Vision partnership, Test Valley Borough Council will provide free, outdoor gym stations in four locations across Andover. The trail will include a range of equipment such as chin-up bars, balance beams, cross trainers, exercise bikes and bench press stations.

Community and Leisure Portfolio Holder, Councillor Tony Ward, said: “This project has been inspired by feedback from Andover Vision, where residents, community groups and other stakeholders have asked for more outdoor sports equipment. It also contributes to one of the Mayor’s priorities - encouraging health and wellbeing through activity – by providing accessible and free apparatus.”

“We are now seeking feedback on the types of equipment included in the proposals as well as the suggested locations; Charlton Leisure Centre, Augusta Park sports pitches, Picket Twenty Urban Park and Watermills Park.”

Residents can view the proposals here and submit their comments by contacting Test Valley Borough Council’s Community and Leisure team on 01264 368000 or Community&Leisure@testvalley.gov.uk. The consultation will be open until Friday, 5 January 2018.
