Bakery takes away a grant

Boost for Bake 'n' Baps sandwich company

Test Valley Borough Council has awarded Helen Combes and Nicola Coleman a £750 Business Incentive Grant to celebrate the launch of their new sandwich takeaway, Bake ‘n’ Baps.

Helen and Nicola opened the takeaway business at Walworth Enterprise Centre in April 2016. The shop is in the perfect location to sell hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and homemade cakes to local office workers.

Nicola said: “We were really lucky that the unit became available at the perfect time for us. We were looking for a new challenge having worked together for several years at a play school. We’ve got lots of plans and ideas for the future and we are very much enjoying our new venture.”

Andover St Mary’s ward member, Councillor David Denny, presented the cheque to Helen and Nicola. He said: “Helen and Nicola have worked really hard to launch their new business. They have built up a great reputation and everyone loves their food! I’d like to congratulate them on a successful first few months of trading and wish them the best of luck in the future.”

The Council’s £750 Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley. Budding entrepreneurs should apply for the grant before they start their company and if it is still going strong six months later, they will receive the cheque.
