New Visitor Information Centre now open
A newly decorated Visitor Information Centre in Romsey is now open for business.
The refurbished centre at King John’s House opened on Friday, 9 June, meaning visitors can now find everything they need to know about Test Valley. The friendly staff at the centre will help people to find the best places to eat, visit and stay in the borough, and the wide range of leaflets and brochures proudly showcase hundreds of attractions across the region.
Julia West, Manager of the Romsey Visitor Information Centre, said: “Test Valley Borough Council’s commitment to improving the Visitor Information Centre shows its support for tourism and local businesses. We are very grateful that so much hard work has gone into the project and we have enjoyed welcoming our first visitors.”
Test Valley Borough Council's Economic Development and Tourism Portfolio Holder, Councillor David Drew, added: "With an annual expenditure in excess of £200million and about one in ten jobs in Test Valley related to tourism, it is crucial that Test Valley Borough Council is fully committed to this facility. At the opening event, I was struck by the passion and enthusiasm of the team - they are an inspiration to all visitors to Test Valley.
Last year, around 54,000 people visited the Romsey Visitor Information Centre and I'm sure numbers will be up next year."
The Visitor Information Centre is operated by Tourism South East and funded by Test Valley Borough Council.
