The sweet smell of success

Two entrepreneurs from Andover are enjoying the sweet smell of success as they celebrate the launch of their new Yankee Candle business in Andover.

Agnes Winchcombe and Victoria Ross opened Indiglow at 2A Newbury Street earlier this year and have spent time settling in to their new premises and getting to know their customers. Andover St Mary’s ward member, Councillor Iris Andersen, presented the pair with the first instalment of Test Valley Borough Council’s £1,000 Independent Retailer Grant in October to acknowledge the company’s first six months of trading.

Councillor Andersen said: “Agnes and Victoria are doing a fantastic job of establishing Indiglow as a popular town centre shop - it smells gorgeous as you walk in through the doors! I’m very pleased to present this grant to the two of them and I wish them all the very best.”

Agnes added: “Victoria and I have ten years of Yankee Candle experience between us so we have built up a vast product knowledge. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and we look forward to welcoming people into the shop.”

Recipients of the £1,000 grant receive £500 after three months of trading and a further £500 six months later. To be eligible for the grant, new or existing independent businesses must occupy a town centre ground floor unit which has been vacant for at least one month. Qualifying businesses include shops, restaurants and cafes.
