New facilities unveiled at village pavilion

Brand new changing facilities have been unveiled in Sherfield English after a £990 Councillor Community Grant from Test Valley Borough Council.

Blackwater Ward councillors awarded the funds to the Sherfield English Recreation Project.

The charity helped galvanise the community in raising funds for the new pavilion, which is used by a number of sports teams from the surrounding area.

It means the new pavilion is now benefitting from brand new showers and toilets. The funding has also enabled the pavilion to introduce facilities for those with disabilities, and has installed baby-changing cubicles.

Blackwater Councillor Gordon Bailey said: “Both Nick Adams-King and I are very proud of the new pavilion, and the facilities are a fantastic addition. We are both pleased to award the pavilion this funding.”

“The work that the Sherfield English Recreation Project has done for the village is fantastic, and now the brilliant new pavilion is even more accessible for our entire community.”

The Councillor Community Grant scheme helps to fund community-led initiatives.

Councillors allocate funds to projects that they identify as meeting a need in the community based on feedback from residents.
