Cash boost for new recruitment venture

An Andover businesswoman has been given a £750 boost to help set up as a freelance recruitment consultant in the town by Test Valley Borough Council.

Rebecca Martin had been working for a local recruitment consultants before deciding to become self-employed and launch her own venture, Tribex Recruit. With the support of Active Staff, who operate in the town, Rebecca has now benefitted from a Business Incentive Grant from the council.

Rebecca said: “I felt that the time was right for me to try to be successful on my own, but I’m really grateful for the support I’ve had from Active Staff, too. Trying to make sure I take the right steps at the right moment can be quite difficult, but the advice I had from the council was fantastic.

“Being able to take advantage of a financial boost such as the Business Incentive Grant is a great opportunity and certainly made things easier!”

Ward councillor, Victoria Harber, said: “Rebecca is a hugely determined person and I applaud her courage and knowledge in getting Tribex Recruit off the ground. These cases are exactly what we have the Business Incentive Grant for and it’s brilliant that Rebecca has been able to utilise it.”

The council’s Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley. Anyone who successfully applies for the grant will receive £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.

These funds have become available to the community as a consequence of the council’s prudent investments, financial management and the use of the New Homes Bonus.
