Andover charity boosted with £1,000 TVBC grant

Test Valley borough council has supported an Andover charity with a £1,000 Councillor Community Grant.

The Abel Foundation used the money to host a family fun day event earlier this month in support of those suffering from mitochondrial disease.

The foundation was created to aid people and their families who deal with this life-limiting disease.

They run a 24-hour support network via phone, email, and text offering help or even just someone to listen and can understand what they go through on a day-to-day basis.

St Mary’s ward councillor Iris Andersen presented the £1,000 grant to founders Claire and Tony Noakes.

Trustee Tony Noakes said: “The families of people living with the condition have not been able to get together during the pandemic. We were so happy to host The Abel Fest to bring families together again and reconnect them with their support networks. We would like to thank Test Valley borough council for supporting this event.”

Councillor Andersen said: “I am thrilled to support The Abel Foundation and to have been a part of Abel Fest. Seeing the community come together in this way to support such a worthy cause is incredibly heart-warming”.
