Funding awarded for new defibrillator cabinet at Ampfield community centre
Ampfield Parish Council has received a Councillor Community Grant of more than £395 from Test Valley Borough Council towards the cost of a new heated cabinet for the defibrillator at Ampfield community centre.
The existing cabinet was identified as needing replacement because it isn’t heated. When temperatures drop below zero, the batteries can lose charge and the electrodes inside the machine may fail, putting residents and anyone using the hall at risk if the defibrillator is needed in an emergency.
The new cabinet will ensure the defibrillator is ready to use all year round, giving reassurance to everyone who visits the centre. Installation is expected soon, and we’ll share updates when the date is confirmed.
Councillor Sally Yalden, who approved the funding, said; “Heading into winter and the colder months, residents can feel reassured that this life-saving equipment is being stored efficiently and well looked after. Ampfield community centre is a hub for local activities, and this upgrade means people can feel confident that help is available if it’s ever needed.”
Bryan Nanson, Chair of Ampfield Parish Council said; ““We’re grateful to councillors for awarding this grant. It means we can look after the defibrillator properly and invest in equipment that could save lives. Ampfield community centre is at the heart of village life – it’s used every week for classes, clubs and celebrations. Making sure the defibrillator is ready when needed gives peace of mind to everyone who spends time here.”
Ampfield Parish Council originally purchased the defibrillator with grants from Test Valley Borough Council and Hampshire County Council councillors. There is also a second defibrillator at the recreation ground, which was supported by Test Valley Borough Council.
This investment reflects our shared commitment to keeping residents safe and supporting vibrant community spaces across Test Valley.
