A sweet new addition to the Chantry Centre as Go Fudge: Sweetly Baked opens its doors

The independent, family-run business is bringing handmade treats and (goody)bags of personality to Andover, with the opening of its town-centre shop on Saturday 25 October.

Sisters Laurien and Ashlyn, both born and raised in Andover, started the business during Ashlyn’s maternity leave in 2024. What began as a kitchen hobby has grown into a thriving local brand, known for its amazing handmade fudge and fun, flavour-packed treats.

“We didn’t realise how big it was going to get,” said Laurien. “It’s been surreal going from making fudge at home to opening our own shop in town – but we’re more than ready to show people what we can do.”

The shop offers over 30 fudge flavours, including best-seller Cherry Bakewell and their personal favourite, Lemon Meringue. Visitors can also find pick ‘n’ mix sweets, milkshakes, baked goods, gifts, and more.

Local councillors Iris Andersen and Jan Budzynski were there to cut the ribbon and officially welcome the new business to the high street.

“It’s brilliant to see two local women turning their passion into a business and bringing something fresh and exciting to the Chantry Centre,” said Cllr Andersen. “Supporting independent makers like this is key to keeping our town centre vibrant and full of character.”

The opening comes as part of wider efforts to support high street regeneration and encourage local enterprise. Go Fudge previously operated from Basepoint and has built a strong following through social media, local events such as Taste of Test Valley, and collaborations with other local businesses and charities.

“We want to be a place people love to visit,” said Ashlyn. “We’re proud to be part of Andover’s town centre and we’re excited to keep growing, working with others and giving back to the community.”
