Braishfield young people share their vision for the future

Young residents in Braishfield have been given the chance to shape the future of their village, thanks to a special session hosted by Councillor Sally Yalden on Saturday, 6 September.

The event brought together 11 to 16-year-olds to explore what it’s like to grow up in Braishfield. The group shared both their hopes and concerns for the future, identifying priorities that will be written up in a report and presented directly to the parish council.

Councillor Sally Yalden said; “This was a brilliant opportunity to hear directly from young people about their experiences of living in Braishfield. By listening to their ideas and working with them, we can make sure that the village continues to be a place where every generation feels supported and included. I’m grateful to the young people who took part and I look forward to seeing their priorities shared with the parish council.”

Councillor Stewart Macdonald, Portfolio Holder for Community Led Projects, added; “We are committed to working closely with communities across the borough, and that means hearing from residents of all ages. It’s fantastic to see young people at the heart of this conversation in Braishfield, sharing their perspectives and helping to shape the future of their village.”

The session was part of ongoing work between councillors, parishes and residents to strengthen local communities by making sure every voice is heard.
