Council awards Independent Retailer Grant to Divine Glory Beauty and Spa
The council is delighted to announce that Divine Glory Beauty and Spa Ltd has been awarded an Independent Retailer Grant of £1,200 to support its new venture on the Upper High Street. The shop unit, which had remained vacant since the end of 2020, has now been transformed into a vibrant beauty and wellness destination for the local community.
Divine Glory Beauty and Spa is a family-run beauty and hair business built on a vision of inclusivity, culture, and community. Originally operating on a smaller scale in Tidworth, the business has now relocated and expanded into a dedicated High Street premises. This exciting move allows the team to grow its product range, introduce in-house services, and create a welcoming space where customers feel confident, represented, and cared for.
The business’s retail offering includes hair care products for natural, relaxed, curly, and textured hair, including specialist products that are often hard to find locally. They also stock wigs, extensions, and protective styling solutions, along with hair accessories and essential beauty items.
In addition to retail, Divine Glory Beauty and Spa is introducing professional hair and beauty services, and treatments tailored specifically for Afro-textured and curly hair.
St Mary’s ward Councillor Iris Andersen said: "It’s fantastic to see a new independent business opening on the Upper High Street after such a long period of vacancy. Supporting local entrepreneurs like Kendian is key to keeping our town centres thriving and creating opportunities for residents."
Owner Kendian Hankey added: "Receiving this grant is a huge boost for my business. It allows us to invest in creating a beautiful space for our clients and contribute to the local economy. I’m excited to welcome customers and be part of the community’s growth."
The Independent Retailer Grant is part of the council’s ongoing commitment to supporting local businesses and encouraging economic growth across the borough. It provides £1,200 in two tranches, after a minimum of three months and nine months of trading, to businesses moving into empty ground-floor town centre premises.
