To help us achieve our goals Equalities Impact Assessments (EQIAs) are carried out that assess and record the potential impact on residents and staff of the Council's:
- strategies
- policies
- functions
- projects
- plans
- procedures
EQIAs can help the Council to deliver excellent services by making sure that they reflect the needs of the community.
By carrying out EQIAs, the Council may also ensure that the services it provides fulfil the requirements of anti-discrimination and equalities legislation.
The Council has a planned review programme for its existing policies which can be seen as an appendix to the Equality Scheme. An Equality Impact Assessment is undertaken for any new policies or initiatives when reports are prepared for Councillors.
