Apprentice Application Form Guidance
Apprentice Application Form Guide
This short guide provides helpful tips on completing your application form and ensuring you include all the information we need to consider your application.
If you have any questions about the apprenticeship roles or need support with your application, please contact us at jobs@testvalley.gov.uk.
On your application form, please make sure you provide at least one contact telephone number and an email address so that we can contact you easily throughout the recruitment process.
Education
Please tell us about any schools, colleges or training providers you have attended, along with any qualifications you have achieved or are currently studying towards.
Ideally, applicants will have achieved five GCSEs at grades 4-5 (previously grade C), or equivalent, including English and Maths.
However, we understand that everyone has different experiences and backgrounds. We place a strong emphasis on a positive attitude, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. If you have not yet achieved English and Maths at this level, we can support you in gaining these qualifications as part of your apprenticeship programme.
Work Experience, Volunteering and Skills
Please provide details of any work experience, paid employment, volunteering or other activities that have helped you develop useful skills.
This could include:
-
Part-time jobs
-
Work experience placements
-
Volunteering roles
-
Babysitting or caring responsibilities
-
Sports teams or clubs
-
School projects or leadership roles
-
Supporting community or fundraising events
Don't worry if you have limited work experience. We are interested in understanding the skills and experiences you have gained in any setting.
About You
This section is your opportunity to tell us about yourself, your skills and why you would like to become an apprentice with Test Valley Borough Council.
Before completing this section, please read the Job Description and Person Specification carefully. These documents explain what the role involves and the skills and qualities we are looking for.
When describing your experience, try to give examples. For instance, if you have worked as part of a team, explain:
-
What you did
-
What your role was
-
What skills you used or developed
-
What you achieved
Don't be concerned if you do not yet have all the skills or experience listed in the Person Specification. Apprenticeships are designed to help you learn and develop, so simply provide as much relevant information as you can.
