Running outdoor exercise and sports sessions

Running outdoor exercise/sports sessions on Open Spaces and Sports Sites managed by Test Valley Borough Council.

To enable you to run an outdoor exercise session on any open space or sports site managed by Test Valley Borough Council you will be required to have a formal agreement, this is so we can determine if the site is suitable for your activity and ensure the safety of the individuals attending your sessions as well as the safety of other users of the site.

Please be aware there is a small charge to hire facilities which will be arranged following permission to use the site.

Some examples of when an outdoor exercise agreement would be needed include: -

  • Yoga/Pilates/Tai Chi
  • Fitness Bootcamps
  • Personal Fitness Training
  • 1 – 1 Coaching – Football/Tennis
  • Skateboard coaching sessions

Anyone running an outdoor exercise session/sports session without permission will be asked to vacate the site.

To be eligible for an agreement you will be required to provide copies of the following documentation: -

  • Suitable First Aid Qualification
  • Public Liability Insurance of £5 million upwards
  • An appropriate fitness qualification (such as REPS Level 2 as a minimum)
  • An up to date Risk Assessment for the activity session
  • A DBS certificate for any instructors that are planning to work with under 18’s or vulnerable adults. – This may not be applicable

If you wish to apply for an outdoor exercise/sport agreement, then please email community&leisure@testvalley.gov.uk  and specify the location and what days and times you wish to run the sessions.
