Tenant Fact Sheet

The Government has now released the official Tenant Fact Sheet for the Renters’ Rights Act 2026.

This marks an important milestone in preparing tenants and landlords for the changes coming into force on 1st May 2026.

The fact sheet provides a clear summary of tenants’ new rights and what you can expect from your landlord under the new legislation.

Landlords must provide the official Information Sheet to tenants no later than 31 May 2026.

To meet the legal requirements your landlord should:

  • Provide you with the official government-issued PDF, exactly as downloaded from GOV.UK.
  • Serve it either as a printed hard copy (delivered in person or posted), or by sending the PDF as an attachment via email or text message.
  • Not send a link to the GOV.UK webpage. Sharing a link alone does not meet the legal standard for service.
