How bidding works
🏡 Homes are advertised weekly on the Hampshire Home Choice website
🔢 You can place up to three bids during each weekly cycle
⏰ Bidding runs from Tuesday to Sunday (midnight to midnight). It is not first‑come, first‑served, so there is no pressure to stay up late or rush to bid
📝 Successful bidders are selected by band, priority date and advert preferences
📩 Successful bidders are contacted within 48 hours (unsuccessful bidders are not notified)
📱 During the weekly cycle, you can check or withdraw your bids in your online account
🏘️ If you see homes outside your preferred area, don’t worry — the system shows all homes you’re eligible to bid on within Test Valley
🤝Applicants who require additional support with bidding, please contact the Lettings Team for guidance
Things to consider before bidding
📆 Would this property meet your long-term needs?
🏘️ Is the location suitable, including transport links and local services?
✔️ Would you be happy to accept the property if it is offered to you?
💷 Is it affordable? You may need to pay rent in advance as well as removal costs
Careful bidding reduces the risk of refusals and helps keep your application active
If your bid is successful
Once a nomination is made, you will need to await contact from the housing association. They will usually contact you within 2 weeks
Please note that the housing association will make the final decision as to whether you will be offered a tenancy
Refusing a property
If you refuse an offer of suitable accommodation where you placed a bid, on two occasions within a six month period, your application may be suspended for six months from the date you refuse the second property.
