Test Valley Borough Council’s Recycling Star could be seen parading through Andover on Sunday 17 July for the town’s spectacular annual carnival celebrations.

The carnival also marked the launch of a brand new Recycling Stars Facebook competition to win one of three family tickets to Paultons Park. To be in with a chance of winning, residents will need to like the Recycling Stars Facebook page and like and share one of the page’s carnival competition statuses before 31 July.

Environmental portfolio holder, Councillor Graham Stallard, said: “Everyone had a fantastic time at the carnival and it was a brilliant opportunity to have fun and raise awareness of the importance of recycling. And we were delighted that the Recycling Star won second prize in the walking group category!

“I’d encourage anyone who hasn’t already liked and shared one of the Recycling Stars competition statuses on Facebook to do so as there isn’t long left!”

The council launched its Recycling Stars campaign in July 2013. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of recycling and show just how simple it can be.
