Local residents are invited to attend a flag raising event in Romsey on Monday, 20 June, to mark the run up to national Armed Forces Day.

Deputy Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Carl Borg-Neal, will be attending the flag raising ceremony at the Former Magistrates’ Court on Church Street at 10.45am. A representative of the Romsey branch of the Royal British Legion will lead the exhortation and the flag will be blessed prior to being raised.

Councillor Borg-Neal said: “I am honoured to be taking part in the flag raising ceremony to commemorate Armed Forces Day. Our forces serve our country all year round and their hard work deserves to be recognised. This special occasion will acknowledge all branches of the military, both past and present.”

Armed Forces Day will take place on Saturday, 25 June and is an opportunity for the public to show their support for serving troops, veterans, cadets and their families.
