Community Life Centre benefits from councillor grant

Three local councillors have together awarded a £500 Councillor Community Grant to Citizens Advice Test Valley (CATV) to enable the organisation to re-open its drop-in advice service at North Baddesley Community Life Centre.

Three local councillors have together awarded a £500 Councillor Community Grant to Citizens Advice Test Valley (CATV) to enable the organisation to re-open its drop-in advice service at North Baddesley Community Life Centre.

Cllr Ann Tupper, Cllr Celia Dowden and Cllr Stephen Cosier presented the cheque to CATV earlier this month, and thanks to additional funding from Denplan the service will re-open tomorrow, Wednesday, 1 June.

The drop-in sessions will run every other Wednesday from 10am to 1pm and will offer impartial and confidential advice from trained Citizens Advice advisers.

Ange Moon, Chief Officer of CATV, thanked the councillors for the grant: “Our outreach service is now able to return to North Baddesley thanks to the generous Councillor Community Grant. The drop-in sessions offer a valuable service to residents who require information and guidance.”

Councillor Tupper said: “We are delighted to be able to provide a Councillor Community Grant to enable Citizens Advice Test Valley to re-launch this service. It is great that residents will be able to benefit from free, expert advice on a whole range of topics.”

Councillor Dowden added: “The Community Life Centre is a great local hub run by volunteers who each work incredibly hard to provide help and support to local residents. The re-launch of the drop-in sessions will help to enhance the existing offering and will give the community access to expert advice locally.”

The Test Valley Borough Council Councillor Community Grant scheme helps to fund community-led initiatives. Local councillors allocate funds to projects that they identify as meeting a need in the community based on feedback from residents.
