We need a new banner design!

A great opportunity for young artists

Test Valley Borough Council has launched an exciting new competition for local children to design a banner for two of the authority’s waste collection vehicles.

The competition, which has been launched as part of the council’s Recycling Stars initiative, is open to children aged between four and 11 years old who live in Test Valley. Designs should aim to encourage everyone to look at whether they are recycling as much as they could be, learn more about the benefits of reusing materials to protect the environment and be more aware of what they can and can’t recycle. Entries can be creative, bright and eye-catching and must be submitted via the entry form at www.testvalley.gov.uk/competition by Friday, 10 June. Winners will be announced by 17 June.

Environmental Services Portfolio Holder, Councillor Graham Stallard, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for budding artists to draw an eye-catching vehicle display which lots of people will see. There will be two winners, and each will receive a family ticket to the Hawk Conservancy near Andover. It is important that we encourage as many people as possible to recycle more and waste less, so who better to communicate this to our residents than the next generation of Recycling Stars?”

For more information and to download an entry form, visit www.testvalley.gov.uk/competition or check whether your child’s school will be taking part. Local scouting, guiding or other community organisations could also be giving children the chance to participate, so speak to your local leader to check.
