Bed and breakfast is a great business

Grant for The Palmerston Rooms

Test Valley Borough Council has awarded Kay Choules a £750 Business Incentive Grant in recognition of setting up her new bed and breakfast business, the Palmerston Rooms.

The Palmerston Rooms is an elegant new bed and breakfast which opened in Palmerston Street, Romsey, in February 2016. Kay and her husband Graham spent many months working hard to renovate the premises, which required roof repairs, internal refurbishment and a complete re-decoration. The Grade Two listed Edwardian house is perfect for attracting visitors to Romsey and has eight bedrooms available.

Kay said: “I’d like to thank Councillor Ian Richards for recommending Test Valley Borough Council’s Business Incentive Grant. We are very grateful for the financial support as well as the networking opportunities that the Council has provided us with.”

Councillor Ian Richards added: “Kay and Graham have worked incredibly hard to launch the Palmerston Rooms. The Council is committed to encouraging tourism in Romsey and the Palmerston Rooms are already proving popular with visitors from outside the borough as well as more local tourists. I wish Kay and Graham the very best of luck with their new venture.”
The Council’s Business Incentive Grants are available to anyone looking to set up their own business in Test Valley. Anyone who successfully applies for the grant after 1 April 2016 will receive a grant of £750 if their business is still going strong six months later.
