Women’s group receives funding

Boost for Chilworth WI

Community activities for the Chilworth WI will be boosted thanks to support from a Councillor Community Grant. The funding will help to pay for hiring the village hall and organising regular events.

Councillor Finlay presented the cheque at a recent WI meeting on behalf of the three ward members; herself, Councillor Nigel Anderdon and Councillor Phil Bundy. She said: “The Chilworth WI is a fantastic organisation which provides a wide range of activities for local residents. I am pleased to present the cheque to help this new branch to make a sound financial start.”

The Chilworth branch of the WI meets on the second Thursday of every month at the Village Hall from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Organisers prepare a variety of activities for members to take part in, and speakers are often invited to present various topics.

Marylou Carlton, President of the Chilworth WI, said: “I’d like to thank the councillors for the money. It really will go a long way and we are pleased that we can book in some more events for our members to enjoy.”

Test Valley Borough Council’s Councillor Community Grant scheme helps to fund community-led initiatives that are identified as meeting a need in the community, based on feedback from residents.
