Cash boost means park upgrade
Test Valley Borough Council has awarded a £10,000 grant to Hurstbourne Tarrant Parish Council to fund an upgrade to one of the village’s play parks.
The play area at King George V playing field now has new equipment including a climbing structure, balancing beams and ropes which are sure to be a welcome addition to the already popular playground.
Finance Portfolio Holder, Councillor Peter Giddings, presented the Parish Council with the cheque and said: “The Community Asset Fund is available to voluntary groups, parish or town councils and other community organisations to fund projects such as playgrounds, public art and building refurbishments. I am delighted that the money has been put to such good use; playgrounds are an integral part of the community and I am sure these upgrades will be well appreciated.”
These additions will enable families and younger children within the village to stay active and take full advantage of the warmer weather. It is part of a wider scheme – the Council’s Community Asset Fund - that provides contributions to projects which enhance community infrastructure. Groups or non-profit organisations can apply for up to 50% of the total cost of the project which will enable more ventures like this.
