Four Fun Fridays return!
Test Valley Borough Council is bringing back a big dose of creative fun to Andover this summer as it transforms the High Street into a festival each Friday in August.
The Four Fun Fridays project will see a vibrant programme of street entertainment, live music, creative workshops and competitions for all the family to enjoy.
Shoppers and visitors will be able to get involved in many different activities including street theatre and outdoor performances, 2D chalk painting, storytelling, face painting, art workshops, a comedy Joyous Jambouree and a hula hoop street show. There will also be a live chainsaw wood carving display!
The events take their inspiration from the Encounters shop project, which began in 2014 where more than 1,000 people shared their ideas and aspirations for the town. The newly launched Andover Vision will continue the legacy of Encounters by celebrating the fun of being outdoors and connecting to the beautiful green surroundings by bringing this exciting event to the town.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Phil North, said: “The Four Fun Fridays were incredibly popular last year and the events really brought a sense of vibrant community to the town. The idea came from a variety of public engagement activities that informed us that local people wanted more events in the High Street, so the Four Fun Fridays worked really well. The entertainment, music, dancing and performances were the perfect way to create the buzz that residents told us they wanted.”
The project has been funded by developer contributions from the Andover Business Park and supports our ambitions for Public Art in the Test Valley to involve, inspire and intrigue.
