In the frame for a grant

A Test Valley Borough Councillor has presented a Romsey picture framer with the second instalment of a £1,000 Independent Retailer Grant.

Rachel Belle opened Romsey Picture Framing Company in April 2016 to add to her portfolio of businesses. Her already thriving framing shop - Andover Framing and Photo – sees customers travel from far and wide and the Romsey shop is set to be just as successful.

Romsey Abbey ward member, Councillor Clive Collier, said: “It’s great to see Rachel settle in to her businesses and establish herself as a specialist framer in Test Valley. We are committed to supporting the local economy so it is particularly exciting to see Rachel become so successful in two towns.”

Rachel added: “I’d like to thank Test Valley Borough Council for the grant. I am looking forward to spending the money on a new digital piece of cutting equipment that will enable me to take on even more work.”

The two businesses are able to offer framing for over-sized and large items as well as more traditional pieces. Anyone who is interested in finding out more is welcome to pop in to the shop at 70, The Hundred.

Recipients of the Council’s £1,000 Independent Retailer Grant receive £500 after three months of trading and a further £500 six months later. To be eligible for the grant, new or existing independent businesses must occupy a town centre ground floor unit which has been vacant for at least one month. Qualifying businesses include shops, restaurants and cafes.
